Blindness Spring/Summer 2019 Menswear Review

Theres something so erotic about Blindness and the combination of the traditionally masculine with the traditionally feminine. Pinstriped shirts are elongated and styled under leather studded bustiers, flannel and tartan is combined with silk chiffon, and pearls adorn trims of garments and decorate the face of several models. The name "Blindness" comes from co-creators JiSun Park and KyuYong Shin desire to create "gender-blind" clothes that destroy barriers of gender expression. It doesn't matter what gender of model was wearing what type of opposing garment to the the Blindness eye. Gender shouldn't exist on the binary, especially in the context of fashion. People should always have the freedom to wear whatever they want, so long as it fits them and makes them feel strong and comfortable. 

These clothes are not for the faint of heart, with their dramatic swishing and seductive sheerness. The hijacked pearl guarders-cum-eyepieces covering many of the model's faces referenced the blindness of falling in love for the first time. Romance, in both the sense of human attraction and the sense of human fantasy, exists within Blindness in terms of aesthetics. Theres also something quite Gothic and sinister wrapped in these frilly layers as well. Perhaps its the persistent face obstruction, or intense looking leather boots, or the dense use of black. The entire collection is fantastic for a brand that only started in 2016.
